God Is With Us - Always

Reflections on the readings for the Second Sunday of Lent (February 25, 2018): GN 22:1-2, 9A, 10-13, 15-18; PS 116:10, 15, 16-17, 18-19; ROM 8:31B-34; MK 9:2-10

MISSIO offers “Mission In Scripture” to nurture a missionary heart, providing reflections on the missionary themes in the readings of Sundays, Feast Days and Holy Days.

What more can Almighty God give His people? He sent His Son to save us for everlasting life – at the cost of Jesus’ own life. God’s love is so overwhelming we can never truly comprehend His generosity, at least until we see the beauty and light of His Holy Face in Heaven. Yes, here are earth we must still face pain and problems. But, as St. Paul reassures us in his letter to early Christians who may have been confronting persecution: “If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son but handed Him over for us all, how will He not also give us everything else along with Him?” (Romans 8:31-32)

God saved the son of His faithful servant Abraham from being sacrificed – but not His own Son. However difficult our life may seem or whatever hardships come our way, we are never alone. Like Abraham, we know that God is with us always.

Suggested missionary action: Let us spend some time reflecting on all that Jesus gave for us. He was not only crucified for us, but He also taught us how to share faith, hope and love in our everyday lives.
