The Holy Trinity calls us to discover faith, hope and love in this beautiful, unfathomable mystery

Reflections on the readings for the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity (June 16, 2019): PRV 8:22-31; PS 6:4-5,6-7,8-9; ROM 5:1-5; JN 16:12-15

MISSIO offers “Mission In Scripture” to nurture a missionary heart, providing reflections on the missionary themes in the readings of Sundays, Feast Days and Holy Days

On this Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity we celebrate the great mystery of three distinct and divine persons in one God.

Although most people like to think we are capable of great understanding, this is truly a mystery that we are called to believe rather than comprehend. When we open ourselves to God’s grace we have a personal relationship with Him and draw ever closer to Him – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As St. Paul says, “We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ… and we boast in hope of the glory of God.… Hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us” (Romans 5:1-2, 5).

Every time we pray, “Glory be to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,” we worship God and acknowledge our belief in the Holy Trinity. Our Creator, our Redeemer, our Comforter are sacred expressions of one God. Today, we can thank God for the love that unites the three divine persons and that reaches out to all human beings to claim as His own beloved children for all eternity.

Suggested missionary action:  Let us ask the Blessed Trinity to lead us in all we do in order that we may continue to grow spiritually. And we can also pray for God’s grace and guidance for us and for the Church in all things.
